ERGE BAŞAK ÜNSAL

DESIGNER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR

MP: Tell us a bit about yourself?

B: I am interested in art, nature, the universe, and human beings. Rituals, ceremonies, legends, and myths fascinate me, so I try to express my creativity with the power of symbols. As a designer, I care about sustainability and ethical values as much as my role in creating and conveying messages.

MP: How would you describe your feelings the first moment you realized you found your melting point, your true calling, and moved towards a different direction?

B: I worked as an oil broker for years. When I became interested in jewelry design, a casual business event became a silver lining for me. At a time when everyone was asked to leave a souvenir for the other people who participated in that event, I gave everyone a bracelet of my design as a gift. The community appreciates my designs with their tremendous support. I can gracefully claim that this sense of belonging that people make me feel has become my melting point, therefore the invention of the life of Bodtiha.

MP: What triggered you?

B: As seen from my designs’ stories, I believe in the power of talismans. My motor power has always been the excitement of being able to support everyone's journey by making use of the power of these talismans. I want to be able to both inspire people in their journey of self-realization and illuminate it with the power of talismans.

MP: Have you seen differences in yourself after deciding to follow your path?

B: All of my designs have a particular story. I design them with the power of talismans, giving the energy to production and creation. So, seeing this effort touch people's lives is increasing my self-belief and self-love even more.

MP: You’ve released the new collection, RELEASE. What is the story behind it? Could you please tell us a bit about the process?

B: RELEASE is a symbol of rebellion; it delivers a journey of transformation. I prepared a collection based on the idea of letting go and finding yourself. So, the collection is mainly influenced by liberating and transforming vibrations. It reflects the idea of letting go of what’s holding you back. We brought this collection to life with recycled precious and semi-precious metals with a sustainable production approach while preserving ethical values, which is also Bodhita's production philosophy.
